Of notable interest is the part of the historic town (ViscontiCastle, and Church of the Annunciation s. Maria Nuova) and the outskirts from which they cross and intersect the Naviglio Grande and the Naviglio Bereguardo (see chart).  This location is ideal and effective and leads from the station to the towpath of the Canal of Bereguardo (you can travel by bike, whilst respecting the rules and limits). This trail continues southward through fields and rows of trees and shrubs recreated through the action of the Park. It passes the famous Conca detta dell’Abbazia, which is considered the oldest basin made in the world, dating back to 1438.  The height of Morimondo disconnects from the towpath and takes the road to the right that leads to the village, then to the Cistercian Abbey (see chart), founded in 1134,and from there to the valley.  This is a valley rich of history, where the agricultural landscape was designed by the skilled hands of the monks.Today it still displays the harmony of how to design in compliance with the environmental resources. Consisting of many plants including small groves and springs, which stand out even now, thanks to a project of maintenance of the park.  You can enjoy a walk along the headlands, following the arrows arriving at Cascina Caremma (see chart).  There is a company working with the Park and is known fortheir organically grown crops.  You can also climb to the top of the valley to reach the village of Besate (see chart).  Taking the road that runs alongside, and the street that leads to the cemetery, you pass the Cascina Agnella (see chart) and continue for Motta (see chart).  Motta Visconti offers a charmingplace of life and was home to one of the greatest Italian poets, Ada Negri, who taught there in the local schools whereshe wrote some of her most beautiful pieces.  This citystill retains its rich historical traditions and ancient links to the Ticino River. The trail then re-joins the road that leads from the town centre to the lakefront and the parking lot. Once you have reached the parking lot (see chart), at the end of a sudden drop, follow the signs to the Park Center Geraci. This area owned by the Park is the perfect place to take a break.  Whether it is in the picnic area in the outdoor spaces or if its reserving a canoe. The centre includes a former manor house and an adjacent rustic suitably fitted out for tourist accommodation and conduct of educational and recreational activities.You can even spend the whole day on the river and can book a rafting activity through the Sports Association Red Squirrel (www.redsquirrel.it).  This association managesthe recreational activities, on behalf of the Park.  The return tripfollows the same path until the descent into the Valley Besate, where there instead of heading for the Cascina Caremma at the bottom of the hill, turn right on a country road and follow the path indicated as “Delle 5 chiese”(of the 5 churches).The path passes a fraction of Morimondo and Fallavecchia (FaraVenule).   This village has a beautiful church (St. George) – which houses a statue of Our Lady held in a typical closed court in a Lombardian farmhouse.  The valley opens us looming like a green carpet, where woods, poplars and fields come together in different color shades. From here you then turn left along the road that runs behind the little cemetery, Fallavecchia and later arrive to the Fosson Morto. You then continue along a stretch of asphalt road and, following the arrows of Vie Verdi cross the ditch. The trail passes below the village of Basiano (Fara Basiliana) and that of Coronate, where on the top you can see the church of Santa Maria Nascente.  This was the first place of residence of the Cistercian Monks who arrived from Mormond (view tab). Continuing on the trail to Morimondo you then travel in the opposite direction towards the canal of Bereguardo and to Abbiategrasso.  It should be taken into consideration that part of the route runs along the path E1, which is an international path that is recommended by all as one of the most beautiful runs for hikers.
